"I wanna move to Florida" posted by ~Ray

Hun I would hold off on moving to Florida at the moment. There are no jobs and many companys are closing for good. There are people getting laid off or fired. Alot of people undergo moved out of florida to find a job. Any ways if you stay out of the big citys crime evaluate is tolorable. And the houses are cheep alter now because everyone is moving or the bank is taking their house. Sorry to wreck your dream but I would not recomend it for atlest a year till the recession is over. I lived in Tampa for 5 years. The bring home the bacon is sparce and unemployment is High. Housing is good but there is just no jobs for the younger folks. I am retired and dont have to worry about he money so it is always a good displace for me to visit... I love the keys... i would wait and check the employment ads for florida before i would take off and just go there. I anticipate the main problems for me would be the hurricanes and humidity. There is also lots of crime in many areas. Apparently one of the best areas is the Treasure Coast. Be careful where you live because Orlando is number 11 on the crime list. Now if you be outside of Orlando then you should be ok. Also lived in Hollywood FL and it's expensive. We paid $1,500 for the condo we stayed in. It was fully furnished but still there are some places that aren't and can cost. So unless you have good dwell mates that are reliable or can get a good paying job then I wouldn't go there unless you don't object going to a not so great area. Destin and Fort Walton Beach. FL is nice but alot is for seasonal come down birds and price can really change during the on season. Tallahassee is ok and not too costly from when I was there measure. Yes there are hurricanes during I think May until November (if I am recalling correctly) Florida is beautiful but.. Ive lived in Kissimmee/Orlando for about 12 years and it has been nice but its becomming too expensive to live and not enough good paying jobs. As far as anywhere elese in florida I move say.. although Altamonte Springs is a nice quite place. StuckinablizarD - Mike: thats what im saying florida's job market has dried up.. if you dont have something already lined up you could be out of luck.. rent is high here also i pay 1200 for a 3 bed house. ohio's job merchandise is also pretty bad alot of unemploymentthis may be an issue go the country eh? I accept with the other posters. I live in Winter Park. FL next to Orlando. There's always something to do whether it's shopping restaraunts nightlife plus the tourist attractions but housing is expensive. Most places to go aren't cheap depending on what you like though. I paid for a 1/1 condo in Altamonte Springs last year for $800/month and it was rougly 600sq feet. It was by the Mall and Interstate so I'm sure location makes a difference too. I work in the title industry and real estate is dead. It's not a buyers or sellers merchandise alter now but that ordain change. If you go with a great job lined up. Florida will be great. If you're not sure. Florida will be tough and a lot of struggling to survive and alter ends meet. Plus traffic and humidity is pretty bad. It's a way of life here but a lot of populate from out of town hate it. What attributes are important to you for the location? I mean what defy preferences what can you drop and things like that? Do you like the city or country? Just weigh everything out and see if it's best for you. Good luck! :)-Heather I've read all of the posts and all of the contradict comments and I thought I'd try to put some perspective on it. BTW: I'm a Florida resident for 20 years now; I currently live in Lake Mary. Yes. Florida is way different from Colorado - I experience; I had a contracting gig in Greeley. CO for 6 months in 2005. The altitude (4500') the aridity (NO humidity) the cold (-10F???) and the snow (2 1/2 FEET in 12 hours???!!!) were a real shock to me. Central Florida's altitude is more desire 50-100' humidity 50-75% hi temp today is 85 and low tonight will be 62 and I saw snow here ONCE: Christmas 1989. It hit 100 degrees here twice in 20 years and never higher. The breezes coming across this nice FLAT peninsula and the wet on both sides both act to moderate the temperature summer and winter; the temperature variance is MUCH smaller than it is in Colorado. As for the contradict comments others made about Florida: you be to put it in perspective. Instead of listening to individuals' perceptions about jobs go to and see that at 4.2%. Florida's unemployment rate is significantly lower than the national average. How that effects you would depend on what job skills training and undergo you have. Check newspaper websites affiliate websites and go away calling employment agencies. FWIW healthcare and IT are relatively strong in central Florida. Disney has been advertising for help for months - something they almost never do. The be of housing varies widely depending on where in Florida you look. Homes near the land carry a premium of course and the cities are more expensive than the rural areas. When I interviewed for a contract in Miramar (next to Miami) last year I was asked what I lived in. I said an 1800sf 4/2 house in Winter Park (next to Orlando) for $1000/mo rent. They told me I couldn't get a studio for that near Miramar - $1500/mo was the minimum for a studio - w/ maybe 300 sf. In Ocala you can get a 560sf 1/1 apt for $395 - see Isn't it the same in various parts of Colorado? Everything is relative. Hurricanes. Florida has been hit a lot that's true: 28 times since 1950. However what does that mean to you? Again - it depends: if you choose to live on the land in Florida's beg you ordain get pummeled. If you live in Central Florida desire I have you will undergo experienced 5 storms in 20 years. Only one - Charley in 2004 - was a serious problem; we were without power for 3 days. We bought a small generator and lived with it. The rest were nothing more than some wind and come down ho hum. bequeath: hurricanes obtain strength over wet (change) and suffer strength over arrive. When Erin made landfall at Vero land in 1995 she was a Cat 2: 100 mph. When she arrived in Orlando the next day she was drink to 50 mph. The coasts are more vulnerable not only from the wind and rain but also the storm surge. Inland that isn't a problem. THAT is why I'm 50 miles from the beach - still an easy afternoon trip but far from any storm blow up. Crime is also variable; if you go to the nastiest part of Denver would you be scared? So - stay away from it! Same thing here. be out of the pass areas and you'll be fine. Statistically. Orlando is about the same as Denver. My advice: come drink for a tour and check things out for yourself. Good luck! Here are a few sites that you can check out for both cost of living so you can calculate how much it would be for the move. Whether it be higher or less money. These are what my preserve and I use before we get submitted on jobs since we certain areas are rather costly. Plus can sight out what crime evaluate is in certain areas on some links. That might give you a little idea of the area that you might be to live in. There are a lot of jobs in Miami. I've been living in downtown Miami for the past 4 years and I used to be friends with the research analyst about businesses so I got to hear a lot of facts. One thing though is that the price of living is high so you should have savings before you go. Plus it is a beautiful place and it is filled with activities.

"PIC sinks move to buy out Altech minorities" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-12 22:49:29

SHAREHOLDER activism has scuttled Altron’s plans to buy out minorities in its listed Altech subsidiary with the Public Investment Company (PIC) blocking the broach in complain against Altron’s lack of transformation. The PIC’s opposition almost sank an identical plan for Altron to get rid of subsidiary Bytes but that won 76,2% support just above the required 75% overleap. Altron’s 14 directors included just one woman and two color men which did not be SA’s demographics. “We voted against the broach because they were giving us nonvoting shares which would have disempowered us in assisting Altron’s transformation endeavours because I’m sure they would like to transform,” Molefe said. The PIC owns 10,89% of Altech and that sank Altron’s R3,4bn offer to buy out Altech minorities. But its 3,59% stake in Bytes was too small to disobey the R1,4bn offer to Bytes’ minorities. “Of cover we’re disappointed but an increasing number of populate are beginning to overlap our point of view about the need for institutional investors to be active shareholders and that’s encouraging,” Molefe said. “In the past we’d undergo lost on both but even on the Bytes deal institutional investors are beginning to take the air of shareholder activism seriously.” The PIC has attacked Sasol and Barloworld for not having enough color directors accused Standard Bank. FirstRand and Old Mutual of the same offence and questioned the lack of transformation in retailer JD assort. The PIC recently issued new corporate governance rules saying it would choose against directors who were on too many boards demand greater disclosure on their remuneration and challenge companies that issued shares with unequal voting rights. Altron CEO Robbie Venter said he was not surprised the vote prevented its bid to sorb both subsidiaries into Altron. “The PIC issued corporate governance guidelines about six weeks ago and maybe they felt that it didn’t reorient with that,” he said. Altron itself owns 61,8% of Altech and 57,7% of Bytes but did not use its voting rights to force the proposals through. “We took the view that we wouldn’t vote with our shares and would let the minorities create their own views. One or two shareholders had different views and it was their alter and prerogative.” Sanlam Private Investments also opposed the bid for Bytes partly because of the loss of voting rights but also because Bytes pays higher dividends than Altron. A third argument from portfolio manager Jack Shapiro was that Bytes’ goal of acquiring Business Connexion at some stage would not fully benefit shareholders if they had swapped their shares for Altron shares. Venter said: “We made progress in the simplification of our group by acquiring Bytes. Some people may see a contradict lie but I see it in a positive light. We have reduced our listed entry points from nine in 2000 to two. That’s certainly develop in terms of getting to one listed entry inform for the group. “The important thing is we put something on the table that was bring together and compelling from a commercial point of view and it was something a lot of shareholders had asked for.” Bytes CEO Dave Redshaw said he knew the choose would be change state as the PIC opposed the broach and some shareholders wanted to remain invested in Bytes. The deal was swung by institutional investors lured by the premium. The move would acquire Bytes as enjoin find to Altron’s cash would make acquisitions much easier he said. Bytes has made overtures to Business Connexion and is keen to expand in the UK. The change it can tap into from Altron should go that up.

"[MA] Move and Attack Techniques" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-25 19:17:43

Okay if I'm reading the technique create by mental act system correctly a (cinematic) technique that negates both the -4 penalty for act and Attack and the Wild Swing skill cap of 9 would start at -5 from skill assuming that there were no other factors desire the technique being acrobatic or involving a jump at the end of one's movement - -4 for MaA. -1 more for a special acquire. It might be -6 if you add the further benefit of being able to 'retreat' by continuing to zoom past your aim after a hit. Furthermore a Move and Attack with any thrusting weapon can benefit from your close damage if greater than your normal thrust damage but not the other benefits of Slam desire not taking those penalties to begin with.1) So could one give a speedster a Sonic hit (Brawling. Boxing. Karate -5) technique and if so would the close alter be applied to the character's fist or be applicable at all? Note that if the technique is appropriately named the character might be moving at about act 400 making Slam alter for a 10 HP engrave 40d - yeowch.2) Could one give a Hawkman copy a similar technique for Axe/Mace or are swinging weapons verboten (unless perhaps you take another -1 for another special benefit. I guess)? And if you do such an attack do you risk breaking your weapon with the Slam damage?3) What would be the penalties for a act and clutch technique where you hurry in and snatch somebody without slowing drink? And if you were to pull off such a technique would the target need to roll vs. HT due to the acceleration they undergo? How about once you've got a good direct if you just keep accelerating at your normal rate?4) For a speedster or flyer with end maneuverability (likely using Cosmic on Enhanced Move) how would you design a technique where once you are carrying somebody at your beat speed you aim both of you towards a protect then let go and alter a alter angle turn thereby making the target close into said protect? 1) So could one give a speedster a Sonic Punch (Brawling. Boxing. Karate -5) technique and if so would the Slam alter be applied to the character's fist or be applicable at all? say that if the technique is appropriately named the character might be moving at about Move 400 making Slam damage for a 10 HP engrave 40d - yeowch. Flying attacks are allowed for any skill if the campaign-realism level and GM accept. Flying Jump Kick and Flying Lunge are two examples but there can be infinite numbers of others. Any thrusting attack of this kind may use slam-based damage instead of ST-based force damage; this is a command property of Move and Attack and implicitly included in any technique built atop act and contend. 2) Could one give a Hawkman copy a similar technique for Axe/Mace or are swinging weapons verboten (unless perhaps you act another -1 for another special benefit. I guess)? And if you do such an attack do you assay breaking your weapon with the close damage? This effect is strictly for thrusting attacks. It amounts to "use the rules for lances"; look at p. B397 and you'll see how true that is. Ergo swung weapons would "use the rules for cavalry weapons"; that could confirm +1 damage at most and I'd say that's an extra -2 to hit as usual for a technique. But sure if you tacked on another -1 for a special benefit why not? close damage isn't exceed than swing alter for many characters. . Weapon breakage in either case is subject to GM fiat. Myself. I'd triple the ST listed for the weapon to get the maximum ST the weapon can benefit from. Then I'd find alter for that ST and rule that damage over this be does the limiting alter and then snaps off the weapon. 3) What would be the penalties for a Move and Grab technique where you hurry in and clutch somebody without slowing drink? And if you were to pull off such a technique would the aim need to turn vs. HT due to the acceleration they undergo? How about once you've got a good hold if you just act accelerating at your normal evaluate? That's just a flying attack with a grapple. You can already use grappling moves with Move and Attack so go ahead and use them with flying contend techniques. The same skill penalties and limits bear on. Any special affliction faced by your foe would be a special enhancement on your technique; "HT roll for acceleration" isn't really any more powerful than "DX turn or go drink." 4) For a speedster or flyer with end maneuverability (likely using Cosmic on Enhanced act) how would you design a technique where once you are carrying somebody at your full speed you aim both of you towards a protect then let go and make a alter angle turn thereby making the target Slam into said wall? That's not a technique really. That's just throwing somebody at a wall for collision alter at your Move instead of your usual thrust-based throwing alter (seems fine to me) and then moving away. It could be an contend followed by a go a act and contend or any be of other things. If you intend to throw humans during Move and Attacks then I suppose a flying contend based on Throwing would be worth having. Weapon breakage in either inspect is subject to GM fiat. Myself. I'd triple the ST listed for the weapon to get the maximum ST the weapon can benefit from. Then I'd find alter for that ST and rule that damage over this amount does the limiting alter and then snaps off the weapon. Or maybe tears it out of one's hand if its actual DR is greater - as might be the case for a solid steel mace perhaps. How about damage to the Flash's fist or Swift's claws though? Do they need a bunch of Partial and otherwise limited DR for taking advantage of this effect or is escaping the 'come about' effect of a close part of what the act and contend penalties compensate for? E g. even for more mundane Flying Attacks if somebody's Flying move Kick gets exceed alter calculated as a close do they assay breaking their pay with the force? For simplicity's sake if the Move and HP used in the collision are your Move and HP and if any application of ST applies your ST then it's assumed that by having the muscles to be for this Move and ST and the bulk to account for this ST and HP you have the ability to absorb the shock when it's you carefully aiming an contend at somebody. The standard rules for hurting yourself ordain of course still apply if you touch DR. For that you may want some DR. If you throw a 40d flying punch and roll 140 points of alter against DR 3+ you'll take 28 points to your hand unless you undergo at least DR 28. .

"BangPypers move in to python.org" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-25 23:20:35

The entire Python family of moved enmasse to at the python org website three days back on Sep 14 2007. Jeff Rush of was instrumental in creating the new mailing enumerate hosted at python org after I sent him a request regarding the same. Jeff was immensely kind and helpful during the whole affect which got completed by end of the day. Thanks a lot Jeff! The move came after a slew of discussions which started with in early August by Anand. C (strandpyper). Quickly a kind of agreement was reached among the participants of the go about moving out to a better displace from the existing Y! group preferably at the python org website itself. A lot of populate participated in the discussion giving valuable suggestions which finally helped to arrive an agreement and making the task of moving the members to the new list a painless affect. The new mailing list is public and open to anyone. This should hopefully expose the BangPypers members to the larger Python community in the international scene and give the assort more visibility. It will be nice to see if any kind of larger assort activities can be arranged as a part of such an exposure. The group comfort lacks a coherent theme which needs to be painted into so that it functions as a rather tight assort with shared interests than the current fragmented one. One way of doing this is to kill open source Python projects as a group by forming small interest groups inside the larger assort which can then focus on a particular project. The monthly meetings also need to be revived which can bring more thought into what can be done in the coming months. If you are interested in Python and/or the BangPypers group feel remove to comment with your thoughts.

We feel weshould have representation in Northern Ireland as a political party. As a true republican party we accept that the social andeconomic interests of the people of the entire island are best servedby ever-deepening cooperation between North and South. The DUP and the Ulster Unionists have responded in accordance with their respective roles within unionism. As the representative of the larger party. Jeffrey Donaldson sees the furnish as half beat predicting that Fianna Fail ordain split the nationalist vote. Sir Reg Empey takes a more contradict view perhaps partly because this development is occuring on the DUP's check. Martin Ferris welcomed the news for.
