Hun I would hold off on moving to Florida at the moment. There are no jobs and many companys are closing for good. There are people getting laid off or fired. Alot of people undergo moved out of florida to find a job.
Any ways if you stay out of the big citys crime evaluate is tolorable. And the houses are cheep alter now because everyone is moving or the bank is taking their house.
Sorry to wreck your dream but I would not recomend it for atlest a year till the recession is over.
I lived in Tampa for 5 years. The bring home the bacon is sparce and unemployment is High. Housing is good but there is just no jobs for the younger folks. I am retired and dont have to worry about he money so it is always a good displace for me to visit... I love the keys... i would wait and check the employment ads for florida before i would take off and just go there.
I anticipate the main problems for me would be the hurricanes and humidity. There is also lots of crime in many areas. Apparently one of the best areas is the Treasure Coast. See Wikipedia article:
The Treasure glide is a call for a region in the of stretching from in the south through in the north including the coastal counties of and. The inland county of is sometimes considered a move of the Treasure glide although it is included in the. Okeechobee is included with the three coastal counties in the district and in the Nineteenth Judicial Circuit.
The consider Coast Regional Planning Council based in Stuart which has jurisdiction over the counties of Indian River. St. Lucie and Martin does not include Okeechobee but does consider which is usually considered part of.
The name "Treasure glide" is derived from a number of ships of (especially those of the 1715 ) that wrecked off the coast during the and from these ships have comfort been recovered today both by amateur and professional treasure-hunters.
The consider Coast is sometimes considered a though it is not nearly as large as the to the south. A enumerate of major cities in the consider Coast and their estimated 2004 population:

I have lived in FL a few times. Be careful where you live because Orlando is number 11 on the crime list. Now if you be outside of Orlando then you should be ok. Also lived in Hollywood FL and it's expensive. We paid $1,500 for the condo we stayed in. It was fully furnished but still there are some places that aren't and can cost. So unless you have good dwell mates that are reliable or can get a good paying job then I wouldn't go there unless you don't object going to a not so great area. Destin and Fort Walton Beach. FL is nice but alot is for seasonal come down birds and price can really change during the on season. Tallahassee is ok and not too costly from when I was there measure. Yes there are hurricanes during I think May until November (if I am recalling correctly)
Florida is beautiful but.. Ive lived in Kissimmee/Orlando for about 12 years and it has been nice but its becomming too expensive to live and not enough good paying jobs. As far as anywhere elese in florida I move say.. although Altamonte Springs is a nice quite place.
StuckinablizarD - Mike: thats what im saying florida's job market has dried up.. if you dont have something already lined up you could be out of luck.. rent is high here also i pay 1200 for a 3 bed house.
ohio's job merchandise is also pretty bad alot of unemploymentthis may be an issue go the country eh?
I accept with the other posters. I live in Winter Park. FL next to Orlando. There's always something to do whether it's shopping restaraunts nightlife plus the tourist attractions but housing is expensive. Most places to go aren't cheap depending on what you like though. I paid for a 1/1 condo in Altamonte Springs last year for $800/month and it was rougly 600sq feet. It was by the Mall and Interstate so I'm sure location makes a difference too. I work in the title industry and real estate is dead. It's not a buyers or sellers merchandise alter now but that ordain change. If you go with a great job lined up. Florida will be great. If you're not sure. Florida will be tough and a lot of struggling to survive and alter ends meet. Plus traffic and humidity is pretty bad. It's a way of life here but a lot of populate from out of town hate it. What attributes are important to you for the location? I mean what defy preferences what can you drop and things like that? Do you like the city or country? Just weigh everything out and see if it's best for you. Good luck! :)-Heather
I've read all of the posts and all of the contradict comments and I thought I'd try to put some perspective on it. BTW: I'm a Florida resident for 20 years now; I currently live in Lake Mary. Yes. Florida is way different from Colorado - I experience; I had a contracting gig in Greeley. CO for 6 months in 2005. The altitude (4500') the aridity (NO humidity) the cold (-10F???) and the snow (2 1/2 FEET in 12 hours???!!!) were a real shock to me. Central Florida's altitude is more desire 50-100' humidity 50-75% hi temp today is 85 and low tonight will be 62 and I saw snow here ONCE: Christmas 1989. It hit 100 degrees here twice in 20 years and never higher. The breezes coming across this nice FLAT peninsula and the wet on both sides both act to moderate the temperature summer and winter; the temperature variance is MUCH smaller than it is in Colorado. As for the contradict comments others made about Florida: you be to put it in perspective. Instead of listening to individuals' perceptions about jobs go to
and see that at 4.2%. Florida's unemployment rate is significantly lower than the national average. How that effects you would depend on what job skills training and undergo you have. Check newspaper websites affiliate websites and go away calling employment agencies. FWIW healthcare and IT are relatively strong in central Florida. Disney has been advertising for help for months - something they almost never do. The be of housing varies widely depending on where in Florida you look. Homes near the land carry a premium of course and the cities are more expensive than the rural areas. When I interviewed for a contract in Miramar (next to Miami) last year I was asked what I lived in. I said an 1800sf 4/2 house in Winter Park (next to Orlando) for $1000/mo rent. They told me I couldn't get a studio for that near Miramar - $1500/mo was the minimum for a studio - w/ maybe 300 sf. In Ocala you can get a 560sf 1/1 apt for $395 - see
Isn't it the same in various parts of Colorado? Everything is relative. Hurricanes. Florida has been hit a lot that's true: 28 times since 1950. However what does that mean to you? Again - it depends: if you choose to live on the land in Florida's beg you ordain get pummeled. If you live in Central Florida desire I have you will undergo experienced 5 storms in 20 years. Only one - Charley in 2004 - was a serious problem; we were without power for 3 days. We bought a small generator and lived with it. The rest were nothing more than some wind and come down ho hum. bequeath: hurricanes obtain strength over wet (change) and suffer strength over arrive. When Erin made landfall at Vero land in 1995 she was a Cat 2: 100 mph. When she arrived in Orlando the next day she was drink to 50 mph. The coasts are more vulnerable not only from the wind and rain but also the storm surge. Inland that isn't a problem. THAT is why I'm 50 miles from the beach - still an easy afternoon trip but far from any storm blow up. Crime is also variable; if you go to the nastiest part of Denver would you be scared? So - stay away from it! Same thing here. be out of the pass areas and you'll be fine. Statistically. Orlando is about the same as Denver. My advice: come drink for a tour and check things out for yourself. Good luck!
Here are a few sites that you can check out for both cost of living so you can calculate how much it would be for the move. Whether it be higher or less money. These are what my preserve and I use before we get submitted on jobs since we certain areas are rather costly. Plus can sight out what crime evaluate is in certain areas on some links. That might give you a little idea of the area that you might be to live in.
There are a lot of jobs in Miami. I've been living in downtown Miami for the past 4 years and I used to be friends with the research analyst about businesses so I got to hear a lot of facts. One thing though is that the price of living is high so you should have savings before you go. Plus it is a beautiful place and it is filled with activities.
